Ok. Regarding the tailbone (see picture below)
ANATOMY: the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) is comprised of the sacrum and a left and right ilium. For the purposes of this discussion, and as seen in the first picture, there are some very powerful ligaments on the back if the SIJ that can have tension placed on them and MAY BE a cause of tailbone pain
Often times the tailbone pain can come from things such as spasm of musculature of pelvic floor. Other times a rotation of one ilium can place tension on the posterior sacral ligament and or the sacrotuberous ligament.

Next on the skin find the dimples you see circled. These are an SIJ land mark. As seen in the picture with the tape, the black dots represent the SIJ.

That said, the following application will certainly help to potentially reduce tailbone pain.
POSITION: laying on stomach with a small pillow under the hips to created very slight hip/trunk flexion. Place tape as seen from top to bottom. ZERO tension on ends and 10% tension between ends. This is clearly a sensitive area, with good physical therapy or chiropractic care of the SIJ, this can help to reduce pain.
